The market in plain words

How Saudi Arabia actually works.

Saudi Arabia is the biggest market in the Gulf by every measure that matters population, GDP, business count, and marketing spend. Vision 2030 is behind the acceleration: giga-projects, tourism infrastructure, fintech regulation, and a serious push to diversify beyond oil.

Riyadh gets most of the enterprise, government and giga-project money. Jeddah gets most of the retail, F&B and hospitality money. The buyer in each city thinks differently, researches differently and buys differently.

A Saudi campaign built from a Dubai playbook will usually underperform. The language is different (Najdi vs Hejazi dialect), the platform mix is different (Snapchat and TikTok dominate here), and the procurement standards are tougher.

Customer behaviour

How buyers actually make decisions here.

If your marketing ignores these, it won't work in Saudi Arabia. Simple as that.

01

Short-form video first.

TikTok and Instagram Reels drive top-of-funnel for almost every consumer category.

02

Snapchat still dominant.

Especially for younger Saudi audiences. One of the strongest Snapchat markets in the Arab world.

03

Vernacular Arabic matters.

Marketing in modern-standard Arabic is table stakes. Dialect-aware marketing is the differentiator.

04

LinkedIn is a real B2B channel.

The audience is there and the sophistication is high. Thin posts don't rank.

05

Buyers demand data.

Private firms require clear business cases, ROI tracking and reporting discipline. Generalist agencies struggle to win.

Key industries

Where the money is being spent.

The sectors that drive most marketing demand across Saudi Arabia.

01

Giga-projects & real estate

NEOM, Diriyah, Qiddiya, Red Sea Global. Both direct marketing and a supplier ecosystem of agencies, consultants and services.

02

Fintech

A category being invented in real time. Payments, BNPL, wealth, Islamic finance, open banking.

03

Entertainment

A sector that barely existed before 2017. Cinemas, concerts, Riyadh Season, sports.

04

Tourism & hospitality

A new category with new rules. Hotels, DMCs, experiences, religious tourism.

05

Enterprise B2B

Advisory, legal, cloud, cybersecurity all following the capital flows.

06

Retail & F&B

Family groups digitising fast. International brands entering weekly.

The right approach

How to actually market in Saudi Arabia.

What works, what wastes money, and what we actually do differently.

01

Localise, don't translate.

Hire native copywriters, not translation agencies. Najdi dialect for Riyadh, Hejazi for Jeddah.

02

Snapchat and TikTok on day one.

If your plan is Google + Meta only, you're missing the two biggest attention platforms in the Kingdom.

03

Prove the ROI.

Saudi procurement respects data. Build reporting dashboards from week one and report against revenue, not vanity metrics.

04

Be present.

In-person meetings and relationship-led selling beat remote-only agencies here.

Questions, answered

Common questions.

From engagements and from the questions buyers actually ask us not generic SEO filler.

Is Saudi Arabia a bigger opportunity than the UAE?+

In raw size, yes Saudi Arabia has about 10× the population of the UAE and a marketing market more than twice the size. But the UAE is easier to enter, more open to international brands, and has lower cultural and language barriers.

Do I need an Arabic-language agency to market in Saudi Arabia?+

For anything consumer-facing, yes. For enterprise B2B English-only is survivable but limiting. Even B2B wins are easier if you have Arabic on the ground.

How different is Riyadh from Jeddah for marketing?+

Very. Different dialect (Najdi vs Hejazi), different consumer behaviour, different priority industries, different calendar (religious tourism dominates Jeddah). A single Saudi campaign treating them as one market usually underperforms.

What's the actual role of Vision 2030 in marketing decisions?+

Massive, both directly and indirectly. Direct: a wave of giga-project and government marketing. Indirect: it has reset Saudi buyer expectations about brand quality, digital service, and transparency across every category.

Which platforms matter most in Saudi Arabia?+

Snapchat and TikTok lead for consumer. Instagram still relevant for premium. YouTube for brand. LinkedIn for B2B. X (Twitter) still used in news and some B2B. Facebook has declined.

Can I run Saudi campaigns from Dubai?+

Technically yes. In practice, local presence beats remote operations for anything involving relationships, procurement or cultural nuance. We recommend a hybrid model when a full Riyadh office isn't on the table.
